Jr Puppy Class
Jr Puppy Class is our group learn-and-play class designed for families with dogs under 8 months as they learn and grow through the teenage stage of puppy development.
Together we’ll learn and practice obedience skills like sit, stay, lie down, and coming when called, along with fun tricks, while giving our Jr Puppies time to play off-leash with one another in a group setting.
You can learn more about our Jr Puppy Class on this webpage, and when you’re ready to get started, there’s a calendar at the bottom of the page where you can register online. :)
What Is Jr Puppy Class?
Jr Puppy Class is a group class designed to support you and your dog as you grow through the teenage stage of puppy development. Different from our Minding Our Manners course, this class includes off-leash playtime and is perfect for social dogs who are comfortable interacting with other dogs and their humans.
A few things to know before your first class:
Since this group class is for dogs under 8 months of age, Jr Puppies do not need to be spayed or neutered to attend.
This group course is open to dogs of sizes as long as they have their Rabies vaccination. You will be asked to upload a picture of your dog’s rabies vaccination when you register online.
Our Jr Puppy group classes are for dogs who are comfortable learning and playing with other dogs and people. A little unsure is okay, that’s how we learn and grow! If you think your dog may be uncomfortable around dogs of different sizes, or may snap at other dogs or people, we recommend starting with private training first. :)
What do we do in Jr Puppy Class
As puppies grow into teenagers, they often bring more energy and curiosity, and start testing boundaries! It's a normal part of learning and growing, and we built Jr Puppy Class with that in mind.
Each class includes time learning and practicing skills like:
Coming when call off-leash
Walking on a loose leash
Sit, Stay, Lie Down,
Relax and focus
To keep learning fun, we also introduce tricks like spin, crawl, and roll over alongside the everyday skills.
Off Leash Playtime
Jr Puppy Class brings dogs together based on age, not size, so you can expect a mix of Jr puppies in each group! Off-leash time gives them a chance to sniff, run, wrestle, play, and learn with each other. Some groups are a little more energetic than others, and our instructor is there to help guide and supervise the off-leash group fun. :)
What to Bring To Jr Puppy Class
Here are a few suggestions on what to bring to Jr Puppy Class:
A regular flat collar and or a harness.
A fixed-length leash. Please no retractable leashes.A variety of treats your dog will love. We encourage you to bring a variety to our first class.
How many people can join class?
To help keep class comfortable for all the dogs while they’re learning, we ask that each dog bring up to two humans to class. You’re welcome to switch up which two humans join us each week as long as one person is 18 or older. A junior handler (under 18) is always welcome to join and participate alongside a parent or guardian.
There is off-leash playtime in this class, so your Jr Handler should be comfortable around other dogs. If they’re feeling unsure or uncomfortable around dogs, this may not be the right environment for them just yet. :)
