Jr Puppy Class in Airdrie
Jr Puppy Class is our learn-and-play class for families with puppies in the teenage stage, helping you and your puppy keep learning as they grow.
Together we'll practise skills like sit, stay, lie down, and coming when called, along with some fun tricks, while your puppy enjoys supervised off-leash play with other puppies.

What Is Jr Puppy Class?
Jr Puppy Class is for social puppies who enjoy learning and playing with other dogs and people. Each class mixes training time with supervised off-leash play, so your puppy practises good manners while having fun with friends their own age.
If your puppy would rather learn without group play, Minding Our Manners focuses on everyday skills on leash.
A Few Things to Know Before Your First Class
- Jr Puppy Class is for puppies 4 to 7 months old when class starts. Puppies don't need to be spayed or neutered to attend.
- Puppies must be up to date on all vaccines, including rabies. You can upload a copy of their vaccine record when you register, or bring it with you to class.
- Because there's group off-leash play, puppies should be comfortable around other dogs and people.
What Do We Do in Jr Puppy Class?
As puppies grow into teenagers, they bring lots of energy and curiosity. It's a normal part of growing up, and we built Jr Puppy Class with that in mind.
Each class includes time learning and practising:
- Coming when called, even off leash
- Loose-leash walking
- Sit, stay, and lie down
- Settling and focusing
- Fun tricks like spin, crawl, and roll over
- Supervised off-leash play with the other puppies
Off-Leash Playtime
Jr Puppy Class is grouped by age, not size, so you'll see puppies of all sizes in each class. Off-leash time gives your puppy positive time exploring, playing, and learning alongside other puppies.
During off-leash time, we can use dividers to split into smaller play groups when needed, so every puppy has a good time. Our instructor is always there to guide and supervise the fun.

A few of the Jr Puppies who've learned, played, and grown with us. Most of our graduates are around 5 to 8 months old on their last day of class.
What to Bring to Jr Puppy Class
- A flat collar, a harness, or both We'll talk more about training equipment during the course.
- A fixed-length leash Any regular leash with a handle, as long as it doesn't retract.
- A variety of treats your puppy will love Bring a few different favourites so we can find out what works best.
How Many People Can Join?
To keep class comfortable for all the puppies while they're learning, each puppy can bring up to two people. You're welcome to switch who comes each week, as long as one person is 18 or older. Junior handlers (under 18) are always welcome to join and take part alongside a parent or guardian.
There's off-leash playtime in this class, so junior handlers should be comfortable around other dogs. If they're feeling unsure around dogs, this may not be the right environment for them just yet.
