" It seems that each and every month someone is promoting some sort of pet awareness. Well, April is no exception as it is Pet First Aid Awareness Month. This is a great opportunity for pet owners to brush up on their pet first aid to keep their four-legged family members safe and healthy.
Pet First Aid is the immediate care given to a pet that has been injured or suddenly taken ill. What occurs in the first moments following an accident can often make the difference between life and death, temporary and permanent disability. Learning pet first aid not only saves the lives of our companion pets in an emergency can help pet parents and pet care professionals spot less obvious health issues through education about warning signs and what are normal pet vital signs.
Learning pet first aid not only can save your companion’s life in an emergency but also will make you a more relaxed and confident pet guardian!
Here's what you need to do:
Preparing yourself for an emergency is a lot less daunting than it may seem. I have personally completed both the 10 hour Pet First Aid course and the 3 hour Off The Grid courses with my dog Denny. It was a lot of fun and we learned a lot! So put aside one day in your life for your pet’s sake. Then you can relax and enjoy all the other national holidays to come knowing your furry family members will be well cared for in an emergency. "
